Arowana
Arowana
First, the king of tropical ornamental fish: Arowana
Arowana, scientific name for the beautiful hard bone tongue fish (Schleropages formosus), in folk is often commonly known as Asian arowana. As an ancient species originated 60 million years ago, it is not only the king of tropical ornamental fish in the aquarium circle, but also an endangered species strictly protected by CITES and Chinese laws. Most of the goldfish on the legal market today are artificially bred varieties, which not only meet the needs of aquarium enthusiasts, but also provide protection for the continuation of this ancient species.

2. Highly recognizable external features
The core reason why Arowana is so popular lies in its highly recognizable and gorgeous shape. Its streamlined body is covered with large semicircular scales, which will reflect a metallic luster under the illumination of the light, like a warrior in armor. There is a pair of thick and short tentacles at the corner of its mouth, which adds a bit of agility and majesty to it. The dorsal fin and anal fin extend from the middle of the body to the tail handle and are connected with the tail fin. When swimming, they have an elegant posture and look like the dragon in China mythology, so they are endowed with extremely high ornamental value and auspicious meaning.
3. Variety classification and market positioning
In the aquatic circle, the classification of golden arowana species is very detailed. According to the different origin and appearance, they are mainly divided into three categories: arowana, golden arowana, and green arowana. Among them, the golden arowana can be further subdivided into different strains such as over-back golden dragon and red-tailed golden dragon. Different strains have their own characteristics in the glossiness and color distribution of scales, which also determines their different positioning and price ranges in the market. For example, the over-back golden dragon is favored by collectors because of its extremely high luster scales and excellent performance in climbing back.
4. Scientific feeding environment and space requirements
If you want to raise arowana well, you must provide it with a suitable living environment. Arowana likes weak acid soft water, and the most suitable water temperature needs to be maintained between 24℃ and 28℃. Since the body length of adult golden arowana can reach 50 to 65 centimeters, and the largest individual can even exceed 1 meter, it is usually necessary to prepare a large aquarium of sufficient size and equipped with a complete filtration system to maintain excellent water quality and create a comfortable living space for it.

5. Daily diet and nutrition combination
Arowana is a typical carnivorous fish. In the wild, they mainly feed on small fish, shrimp and insect larvae. In an artificial breeding environment, in order to ensure balanced nutrition and beautiful body color, breeders usually feed live baits such as small fish, shrimp, and loach. It is also recommended to use special high-quality artificial feed for scientific feeding.
